Meet your English and German to Slovak interpreter

As an English to Slovak and German to Slovak interpreter, I provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for conferences, corporate meetings, European Works Councils, medical events and press conferences.

I am based in Slovakia, but I work with clients across Europe and worldwide both onsite and remotely.

Every assignment comes with meticulous preparation, whether I’m stepping into an interpreting booth, a sports press conference or onto the stage of an award ceremony.

CONFERENCE INTERPRETING

Slovak conference interpreting for international events

Interpreting is a tool. A tool that allows you to reach people in the language they feel most comfortable using.

Nelson Mandela famously expressed this idea when speaking about learning Afrikaans: while many people understood him when he spoke English, speaking Afrikaans allowed him to “go straight to their hearts.”

Communicating in a person’s first language can make information easier to process and remember — and can help your Slovak audience participate more confidently. [sources]

As an English to Slovak and German to Slovak interpreter, I take care of the linguistic heavy lifting so your participants can focus on what is being said.

Interpreting assignment include:

→ international summits and congresses

→ corporate meetings and company events

→ European Works Councils

→ technical training sessions and workshops

→ delegations and official visits

→ factory visits

→ institutional meetings

→ scientific and medical conferences

→ press conferences and media events

Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting allows participants to follow speakers in real time without interrupting the flow of the event. It is best suited for events with multiple languages and a lot of information that needs to be conveyed instantaneously.

It requires the use of equipment, such as an interpreting booth or a tour guide system.

If you want to set this up in Bratislava, I can help you arrange professional interpreting equipment via my trusted interpreting technology company.

Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI)

Not every event requires everyone to be in the same room. I also provide remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) for online and hybrid conferences, meetings and events.

I hold RSI certificates for Interprefy and KUDO and am well versed in interpreting via Zoom, allowing me to work with different remote interpreting setups depending on the platform and requirements of your event.

Consecutive Interpreting

For smaller 1:1 meetings, visits in smaller groups or situations where interpreting equipment would not be practical, consecutive interpreting can offer a more flexible solution.

The speaker pauses at appropriate intervals while I interpret the content into the other language using professional note-taking techniques.

It is important to note that consecutive interpreting can approximately double the time needed for the interpreted parts of the event, so this should be taken into account when deciding on the right format.

VOICE-OVER

Does your project call for a professional Slovak voice recording?

Whether it’s an educational video, an ad or other digital content, I can provide a clean, high-quality recording using a professional condenser microphone, with light post-production for a polished result.

Professional training and qualifications

I hold a Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting from the University of Vienna and am a member of the Slovak Association of Translators and Interpreters (SAPT).

My academic training, combined with years of professional interpreting experience, as an English to Slovak and German to Slovak interpreter provides the foundation for my work across a wide range of settings and specialised subject areas.

What does working with me look like?

1. Before the event

You send me the basic information about your event, language requirements, agenda and available preparation materials.

2. At the event

I research the subject, speakers and relevant terminology and prepare specifically for the assignment.

3. After the event

For recurring clients and projects, established terminology and background knowledge can support consistency across future assignments.

Frequently asked questions

As early as possible, particularly for conferences, specialised assignments and events requiring a team of interpreters. Early booking gives us sufficient time to discuss the interpreting setup, arrange equipment if necessary and, most importantly, prepare thoroughly for the subject matter.

That said, last-minute assignments do happen. If your event is approaching, feel free to get in touch and I will let you know whether I am available.

The more context I have, the better I can prepare. Useful materials include the agenda, presentations, speaker notes, terminology lists, background documents, previous event materials and links to relevant websites or publications.

For highly specialised assignments, even documents that will not be presented directly at the event can be valuable for understanding the subject and its terminology.

As a professional interpreter and member of SAPT, I adhere to professional ethical principles, including confidentiality. Information and preparation materials received in connection with an assignment are treated as confidential and used for the purposes of preparation and interpreting.

I am also happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) where required and follow specific data-security or document-handling requirements agreed with the client.

The interpreting itself is carried out by me, not by AI. I do, however, keep up with developments in AI and use AI-supported tools selectively during preparation where appropriate – for example, for terminology extraction and as an interactive learning tool when familiarising myself with complex subjects.

The use of such tools always depends on the confidentiality requirements of the assignment and the materials involved.

It depends on the type of interpreting and the format of your event.

Simultaneous interpreting generally requires professional equipment, which may range from an interpreting booth and receivers for a conference to a portable tour guide system for smaller groups, factory visits or events where participants need to move around.

Consecutive interpreting usually does not require specialised equipment.

If you are unsure what your event requires, I can help you determine the appropriate setup and, for events in Bratislava and elsewhere in Slovakia, assist with arranging professional interpreting equipment.

During simultaneous interpreting, I interpret while the speaker is speaking, allowing participants to follow the presentation in their language in real time. This is particularly suitable for conferences, larger events and information-dense presentations.

During consecutive interpreting, the speaker pauses at regular intervals while I interpret what has been said. It requires little or no specialised equipment and works particularly well for smaller meetings, visits and discussions. However, the interpreted portions of the programme can take approximately twice as long, which should be considered when planning the schedule.

Yes. I provide remote simultaneous interpreting for online and hybrid events. I hold RSI certificates for Interprefy and KUDO and am well versed in interpreting via Zoom.

Yes. I am based in Slovakia and regularly travel for interpreting assignments. I provide on-site interpreting in Slovakia and across Europe and can also work remotely for international clients.

For assignments further afield, simply send me the location and event details so that travel arrangements can be discussed as part of the booking.

For simultaneous interpreting, a team of at least two interpreters is generally required for longer assignments. Simultaneous interpreting demands intense concentration, so interpreters work in turns to maintain consistent quality throughout the event.

The exact team size depends on factors such as the duration of the event, language combinations, schedule and interpreting setup. For shorter assignments and certain formats, different arrangements may be possible.

If you send me your programme, I can advise you on the appropriate setup for your event.

Yes. I provide English to Slovak and German to Slovak interpreting, as well as interpreting from Slovak into German and English, depending on the setting and requirements of the assignment.

My services include both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for conferences, corporate meetings, technical events, international visits and institutional settings.
